Toronto, ON (November 10, 2011) – Animal Planet’s BREEDER OF THE PACK is back in time for the holiday season and better – and cuter – than ever! Premiering December 9 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and continuing with two back-to-back episodes every Friday, the eight-part Canadian series offers an intimate and in-depth look into the very demanding business of dog breeding – the hopes, triumphs, crises and conflicts. Offbeat and endearing, each half-hour episode of this stylish series focuses on one breeder and their canine of choice. From a 28-year-old maverick making worldwide waves with her one-of-a-kind hybrids to a highly-praised police and military trainer looking for new recruits…follow these devoted dog lovers on their quest to propagate and defend their desirable pooches.

Highlights from BREEDER OF THE PACK: Season 2 include:

BREEDER OF THE PACK: “Goldendoodles”

Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT

Gaga for Goldendoodles? Sherry Rupke has people from all over the planet on her waiting list for her highly-regarded, much-buzzed about Golden Retriever-Poodle cross. Rupke is also the first breeder in the world to have produced a Bernedoodle – a Bernese Mountain dog-Poodle cross – and, she’s only 28 years old. Take that, Zuckerberg!

BREEDER OF THE PACK: “Afghans”

Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT

They are the supermodels of the dog world – with their long, silky coats and slender physiques, Afghan Hounds certainly look the part. Dee Devins has spent her whole adult life trying to increase their popularity… but her time is not her own these days as she helps her husband, Wayne, cope with a terminal illness. So she’s recruited a young protégé, Dani, and is teaching her everything she knows – from grooming techniques to lure coursing and, of course, the show ring.

Also this season on BREEDER OF THE PACK, place your bets on whether a “Border Collie” will qualify for a chance to take gold at the world championships. Then, find out which sister will win the day when an old-fashioned sibling rivalry goes to the dogs, so to speak, as they show off their “Olde English Bulldogges” at a rare breed show (Dec. 16). Next, a breed on the border of extinction gets a helping hand to extend their “leash” on life on “Dandie Dinmont Terriers” followed by a look at Baden K9, a highly-praised police and military breeder of “German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds & Belgian Malinois” (Dec. 23). And finally, get set for the most outrageous and obstinate breeder yet as she defends, protects and promotes her “Central Asian Shepherds” 24/7, immediately followed by the season finale featuring a financially-strapped “Bullmastiffs” breeder attempting a costly and controversial technique that will either make her a hero or utterly ruin her (Dec. 30).
